What we are watching for is Iran and another country
(which looks to be Turkey) to push to the west, north
and south. In early 2016 Iran and Turkey were supporting
opposite sides in the Syrian war while also claiming to be
fighting the common foe often referred to as ISIS
(or Daesh).
It has been so interesting to see How Iran and Turkey
have come to unite much more closely.
We can much more easily see Iran and Turkey pushing
to the west, north, and south.

Iran warns Saudi over 'baseless claims', 'destabilizing' role
"Moreover, Qassemi said, Riyadh has been threatening other countries with taking war to their soil, pressuring other countries’ officials to resign and trampling on their dignity, interfering in others’ affairs to bring about destabilization, and trying to sabotage international agreements.
“Such policies send a serious warning to the entire region and the world, and should come to an end as soon as possible,” the official asserted.
Either through direct or proxy wars, Riyadh has been trying to advance its agenda throughout the region over the past years."

Saudi Arabia's Saturday Night Massacre

In the article are these comments:
"For nearly a century, Saudi Arabia has been ruled by the elders of a royal family that now finds itself effectively controlled by a 32-year-old crown prince, Mohammad bin Salman. He helms the Defense Ministry, he has extravagant plans for economic development, and last week arranged for the arrest of some of the most powerful ministers and princes in the country. A day before the arrests were announced, Houthi tribesmen in Yemen but allied with Iran, Saudi Arabia’s regional rival, fired a ballistic missile at Riyadh. The Saudis claim the missile came from Iran and that its firing might be considered “an act of war.”"
"The U.S. needs regional counters to the Iranians. The Saudis are the major force, but if they cannot play a role as regional leader, the U.S. will have to look for alternatives. One option is to engage in another intervention in the Middle East, something that hasn’t work out well for the U.S. in the past. The U.S. obviously backs Saudi modernization because it would weaken the Wahhabis, but this is a long-term project."

In this article is this comment: "As is already well-known, the Saudi and Israeli common cause against perceived Iranian influence and expansion in places like Syria, Lebanon and Iraq of late has led the historic bitter enemies down a pragmatic path of unspoken cooperation as both seem to have placed the break up of the so-called "Shia crescent" as their primary policy goal in the region. For Israel, Hezbollah has long been its greatest foe, which Israeli leaders see as an extension of Iran's territorial presence right up against the Jewish state's northern border."
